Beste ACC'er,
Op 5 maart 1921 in cafe De IJsbreker begon het avontuur. Een clubje AFC-vrienden wil de onderlinge band verstevigen door middel van het beoefenen van de edele cricketsport. Met op 15 mei de eerste officiële eerste wedstrijd tegen het welbekende VRA 2. Goh, wat zou het mooi zijn als we het 100 jarig bestaan kunnen inluiden met wederom een pot cricket tegen onze rivaal en dorpsgenoot VRA. Dit maal niet op het AFC-terrein aan de Zuidelijke Wandelweg, maar op ons mooie Loopveld.
Nu een eeuw later is ACC nog steeds een gezonde en fantastische club waar iedereen zich thuis kan voelen. Ja, dames en heren, de Amsterdamsche Cricket Club bestaat 100 jaar! Deze bijzondere en Koninklijke verjaardag hadden we in normale omstandigheden natuurlijk groots met jullie gevierd. Met veel cricket, hapjes, drankjes, muziek, foto’s, filmpjes en verhalen. Echter gooit COVID-19 roet in het eten.
Wij willen dit mooie jubileum natuurlijk niet ongemerkt voorbij laten gaan. Echter moeten we noodgedwongen de fysieke jubileumactiviteiten nog even uitstellen, totdat het weer mogelijk is om dit op een passende manier te vorm te geven.
Dit betekent niet dat we stil zitten. De afgelopen maanden is er door een mooie club van ACC’ers al aardig wat energie gestoken ter voorbereiding van de verjaardag. Waar geen fysiekcontact voor nodig is, is natuurlijk een prachtig jubileumboek. Een jubileumboek is, hoe gek dat ook klinkt, tijdloos! Waanzinnig voor nu, om terug te blikken op de afgelopen 100 jaar. Maar natuurlijk ook waanzinnig voor later, om al die herinneringen nogmaals op te halen. Onder de bezielende leiding van Irfan Younis, Arthur van Leeuwen, Ronald Anderson en Michael van Os, is er een heel gaaf boek in ontwikkeling met verhalen, foto’s en statistieken over de afgelopen 100 jaar ACC. Een must have voor iedere ACC liefhebber, wij hopen dan ook het boek deze zomer te kunnen presenteren tijdens een van de jubileumactiviteiten.
Wanneer het ‘weer’ het toelaat zien wij tijdens de viering van het 100 jarig bestaan graag evenementen als Ladiesday gecombineerd met Zami reünie, een lunch of high tea voor ereleden, leden van verdienste en donateurs, een Jubileum Jeugdtoernooi, een speciale FOT en Mancunian Cup editie en natuurlijk een Jubileumdiner en feest op het programma staan. Helaas is het op dit moment moeilijk om hier een planning voor te maken. Wanneer er meer duidelijk is omtrent de maatregelen vanuit de overheid, maar ook de plannen vanuit de KNCB, komen we hier natuurlijk zo spoedig mogelijk op terug. Op de Jubileum pagina op de website is een overzicht te vinden met daarbij ook heel erg voorlopige data.
Wij hopen ten zeerste dat we (een aantal van) deze activiteiten in ons jubileumjaar te mogen verzilveren! Maar ook wanneer dat in 2021 nog niet mogelijk blijkt te zijn dan zullen wij dat volgend jaar alsnog doen.

Dear ACC'er,
The adventure began on the 5th of March 1921 in café De IJsbreker. A group of AFC friends, looking to strengthen the bond between them, began to play the gentleman’s game, cricket. On the 15th of May that year, the first official derby match against the renowned VRA 2 took place. How beautiful it will be, to bring in our hundredth year, with another match against our rival and fellow Amsterdammers, VRA. This time not on the AFC fields on the Zuidelijke Wandelweg, but on our picturesque Loopveld.
A century later, and ACC is still a fantastic, lively club, where everyone can feel at home. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Amsterdam Cricket Club is 100 up! This exceptional, ‘Koninklijke’ anniversary would, and should be celebrated with all of you. With lots of cricket, bites, drinks, music, pictures and videos and stories. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has thrown a spanner in the works.
Of course, we do not want this momentous occasion to pass us by silently, but for now we will need to postpone the in-person anniversary celebrations until it is once again possible to give the celebrations the form they deserve.
This does not mean that we will sit still. In the past months, a superb club of ACC’ers have been spending a lot of energy on the preparations for the anniversary day. One thing where limiting physical contact is not a problem, is of course a stunning anniversary book. An anniversary book is, as cliché as it sounds, timeless. Amazing now, to be able to glance back at some of the memories of the last 100 years! And of course, just as amazing later, to look again as more memories come back to life. Through the superb leadership of Irfan Younis, Arthur van Leeuwen, Ronald Anderson and Michael van Os, there is a fantastic book in the making, with stories, photos and statistics from the past 100 years. A must have for any ACC’er at heart.
When the ‘weather’ allows again, we look forward to the celebration of our century with events such as Ladies Day combined with a Zami reunion, a 100-year Anniversary Youth Tournament, special VOT and Mancunian Cup editions, and naturally a 100-year Anniversary dinner and party. Unfortunately, the current circumstances make it difficult to begin scheduling any of these events right now. As soon as there is some more clarity on restrictions from the government, and from the KNCB regarding the season, we will revert back to you. On the jubileum page of our website you van find an overview of the activities, with a provisional planning.
We sincerely hope that we will be able to celebrate (at least some of) these activities still in our anniversary year, but should 2021 turn out to be difficult, then we will move some of these events to next year.
