Geschilderd, geïnvesteerd in en door onze club, ook in voor ons financieel moeilijke tijden. Maar heel hard nodig, die opknapbeurt. Weten we al jaren. Uitstellen kon niet meer. De bar moet uiteraard dicht blijven, ondanks het mooie weer. Zodat niemand meer een euro verdient. Op de schilders van Baaij in Almere na, dan. Heel moeilijk voor ACC’ers en de golfers van AMVJ, veel tandenknarsen. Maar natuurlijk ook ellendig voor José en Jade, onze gemeenschappelijke pachters. Meer over ‘de persconferentie’ van gisteravond zo meteen.
José moet toch wat verdienen en wordt tegenwoordig gespot bij ‘de molen’ aan de Amstel, waar hij met zijn karretje ijs, hotdogs en meer verkoopt. Het ronkende gevaarte wordt gestald bij het clubhuis, vanwaar hij ons groet. De schilders zijn dus ook actief, en het schiet op. Zie de foto’s maar. Voor hen moeten de deuren van het clubhuis soms wel even open.
Deze week is er zowaar ook al wat cricket op ACC, nu de jeugd zich er weer mag vertonen tot op zekere leeftijd. Trainen mag. En de Amsterdam Cricket Academy ook in staat van paraatheid is: actie op het veld. Meer info daarover ook hier. Op de foto’s enkele betrokkenen. De ouders mogen er niet bij zijn. Zie het coronaprotocol elders op de ACC-site, dat vermoedelijk enige aanpassing behoeft na 'de PC.' Aanwezig waren uiteraard Richard Wolfe en head coach Taku Kusano (met excuses voor de half mislukte foto van het keurig afstand houdende duo. En ACA-coaches Jim Dukker en Areeb Shoaib.
Die persconferentie van premier Rutte gisteravond (woensdag 6/5) had geen duidelijk nieuws voor ons cricketers. Het kabinet heeft woensdagavond de maatregelen rond de bestrijding van het coronavirus wel verder versoepeld. De KNCB zwijgt nog. Heeft het lobbyen geen succes gehad? Voor golfers, overduidelijk geen contactsport, is meer mogelijk. Het verantwoordelijke sportkoepel NOC*NSF schrijft: ‘’Voor de sport houdt dat in dat per 11 mei ook iedereen ouder dan 18 jaar buiten kan sporten en bewegen op 1,5 meter afstand van elkaar. Sinds 29 april mocht de jeugd tot en met 18 jaar georganiseerd en onder begeleiding onder voorwaarden al weer samen sporten.’’ Maar geen douchen, kantines blijven dicht. Ook geen officiële wedstrijden. Tja. Is cricket trouwens nou een contactsport of niet? Nee, toch? Zelfs volgens Wikipedia niet, beste overheid! Golf uiteraard niet. Die koude cola of pils zit er voorlopig nog even niet in, in ons mooie clubhuis. Terrassen open per 1 juni, op anderhalve meter-basis, dat biedt later misschien wel mogelijkheden. Over geen contact met cricket gesproken: misschien moet een van de Haagse clubs maar eens een demo wedstrijdje organiseren voor Rutte cs. En wat filmpjes van testmatches vertonen. Cricket is dus géén contactsport. Maar, haha, de wicketkeeper moet dan wel anderhalve meter afstand houden op een slowbowler, en daarvan heeft ACC er nogal wat. Moet te regelen zijn, van de umpire wordt dan wel wat extra scherpte verwacht. Maar de slips staan al anderhalf meter van elkaar, daar heeft die virus überhaupt geen schijn van kans ;-). Oja. En NIET met twee man op die vangkans afgaan, hè, dus hard LAAT of MIJ roepen! En klap maar veel, voor een prestatie. Wat extra voor het zorgpersoneel mag best wel ;-).
We duimen voor een beperkte hervatting van onze heerlijke zomersport. Van een vorm van, dan.

José must earn some money and is now spotted at "the mill" on the Amstel, where he sells ice cream, hot dogs and more with his van. This week there is already some cricket at ACC, now that the youth can train again to a certain age. Training is allowed. And the Amsterdam Cricket Academy is also ready for action on the field. That press conference by Prime Minister Rutte last night (Wednesday 6/5) had no clear news for us cricketers. On Wednesday evening, the government did relax the measures to combat the corona virus further. The KNCB is still silent, has lobbying not been successful? For golfers, obviously no contact sport, more is possible. The responsible sports umbrella organization NOC * NSF writes: "For sports, this means that as of 11th May everyone older than 18 years can also exercise outside and exercise 1.5 meters apart. Since 29thApril, young people up to the age of 18 have been allowed to play sports together again under supervision and under certain conditions. " But no showers, canteens remain closed. Also, no official competitions. Well, by the way, is cricket a contact sport or not? Oh no? Not even according to Wikipedia, dear government! Of course, not golf. That cold cola or lager is not yet in our beautiful clubhouse for the time being. Terraces open from 1st June, on a meter and a half basis, which may offer opportunities later. Speaking of no contact with cricket: maybe one of the clubs in The Hague should organize a demo game for Rutte and others. And show some videos of test matches. So, cricket is not a contact sport.
