[door Stephan Hannema] Zoals het er nu uitziet wordt het voor mij en de selectiecommissie een lastig seizoen. En dan niet lastig zoals voorgaande jaren, maar lastig omdat er keuzes gemaakt moeten worden. Dit jaar is er veel talent binnen de selectie van ACC 1 en 2. En kan er geselecteerd worden op het gebied van training, inzet, attitude en cijfers. Hierdoor kan het opleidingsteam ook echt het opleidingsteam zijn. Jong talent die wordt opgeleid door een aantal ouwe rotten.
Verheugd was ik dan ook om afgelopen zaterdag mijn eerste wedstrijd weer te kunnen spelen. Uit HBS stond op het programma. Hoge scores op het kunstgrasveld is daar ook niet ongewoon. Maar ik ging als trotse aanvoerder de lunch in.Het zonnetje scheen en met een beetje zeewind door de haren zijn we erg solid gestart met de eerste innings. ACC aan bat. De sleutel tot succes op kunstgras is plaatsen. Langs de fielder betekende in veel gevallen een boundary. Heel beheerst werden door Brendin en Ajit (19) de eerste runs op het bord gezet. Voor Saffie Brendin Scholtz (ook wel de B& van Bed&Breakfast) resulteerde dit in zijn eerste half century van het seizoen (51).
Vervolgens was het tijd voor een van onze jonge talenten. En wat was dit genieten zeg. Met ongelofelijk positief batten liet Arav Mishra (100) zijn talent zien. Beheerste blocks werden opgevolgd door mooie schoten. Het was een aardige klus voor de bowlers, want zowel goede als slechte ballen werden afgestraft. Hard afgestraft met mooie vieren en keiharde zessen (SR 136). Zijn eerste century voor ACC 2 werd daarmee een feit. Complimenten! Voor een groot deel van de innings werd Arav bijgestaan door een van onze ouwe rotten; Rehan Younis. Een partnership van 122 runs en ook een mooie 58 voor Rehan. Met 293 op het bord ging ACC met een goed gevoel een broodje eten. We gingen goed van start met de tweede innings en we hebben de winst gecontroleerd binnen gehaald. Er werd over het algemeen netjes gebowld en we stonden goed te fielden! Maar mannen, we moeten echt aan de slag met onze extra’s (35)!
